In light of his latest achievements, we talked with Tiësto about the upcoming SMF show, touring the globe, and his incredible work ethic.
What have you been working on since last summer’s release of “A Town Called Paradise”? We see you posted a picture on FB from a New York studio.
Good eye! My new mix album “Club Life – Volume Four New York” is out now and it has a ton of new music I’ve been working on.
Would you say you’re a perfectionist? Does your creative process involve a lot of revision, or does everything come out right the first time?
I think it really depends. Sometimes the idea comes to you and the flow is natural. Other times, the production process takes a while. It varies with each project.
What is a typical day like for you?
There really is no typical day because I’m often in a different city each day. It’s pretty typical that I’m on an airplane though.
When is the last time you had a day just for Tiësto, or possibly a vacation, and what did you do?
I’m traveling a lot but I always make it a point to find sometime for myself and to relax. I’m usually just hanging out with friends in some manner.
Do you have a count of how many shows you’ve performed? If not, what would your guess be?
I don’t. At some point I lost track but it’s a pretty large number.
This interview is for Sunset Music Festival in Tampa. What do you think of the lineup?
It’s a solid lineup with lots of my friends!
If someone is seeing your show for the first time, what can they expect?
They can expect a musically diverse set with music from several different genres. The energy doesn’t let up from beginning to end. It will be the biggest party Tampa has seen.
What are some differences you’ve noticed when touring in the United States verses other countries?
Each country is different and that reflects on the crowd. At the end of the day, the dance floor unites us all and we come together.
