Lettuce and Break Science Live in Jacksonville, FL | Recap / Video / Photos

Lettuce

“I love playing in Jax!” Adam Deitch of Lettuce/Break Science told us last week before the Jacksonville stop on A Funk Odyssey Tour. “There’s always a great crowd.” And Thursday night’s crowd was no exception, piling into Mavericks at The Landing with overflowing enthusiasm for the long-awaited show presented by Passion Project & Jax Live.

Pre-tunes were provided by Vlad the Inhaler and Matthew Connor as ticket holders made their way inside, chattered with friends at the bar, and reunited with the dance floor.

Around 8:30, house lights brightened and dimmed, followed by hushed murmurs, signaling showtime. Kick one – kick two – boom-bap, claps and cheers – Break Science broke the silence as cooling colors washed the stage.

Break Science was joined by The Shady Horns performing a live rendition of the Brk Sci/Michal Menert collaboration “Goin’ Down.”

During a brief intermission, final checking and tuning could be heard as remaining Lettuce members emerged from backstage, readying their instruments and lining up in starting position. One more trip to the bar and make it quick, get your girls out of the bathroom! It’s time!

Fans experienced over an hour of Lettuce hits and a special appearance by vocalist Alecia Chakour. The concert concluded with an after party at 1904 Music Hall down the street, DJed by Adam Deitch featuring The Shady Horns.
