Jacksonville Florida Music Blog monthly review june 2017

Here is the Florida Music Blog review from June (and end of May) 2017 in Jacksonville:

Come Back Alice played at 1904 Music Hall with an opening set by The Good Wood Band. 1904 Music Hall also hosted The Heavy Pets with The Mantras, The Juantee, Jahman Brahman, Trail Diver, Sumilan with N.W. Izzard, Blackwater Grease, Bonnie Blue, Le Orchid and A Vibrant Lye. Lucky Costello bid farewell with a bittersweet final performance at Mellow Mushroom in Jacksonville Beach [review and photos HERE].

The Ponte Vedra Concert Hall sold out for both Beach House and Future Islands shows. The St. Augustine Amphitheatre has been keeping the anticipation going all month with names like Slightly Stoopid, John Mellencamp, Dirty Heads with SOJA, Reel Big Fish and more. The venue’s upcoming show list boasts of Widespread Panic, Rebelution, Blackberry Smoke, to name a few.

To the north of Jacksonville, Purple Hatter’s Ball celebrated its 10 Year Anniversary with an intimate weekend at Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park. PHB showcased several of our J-Ville favorites like Isaac Corbitt, Booty Boo, Vlad the Inhaler, MZG, Universal Green, Parker Urban Band, Blackwater Grease, and Jeff Randall. View the photos and read our coverage HERE. SOSMP also housed the Suwannee Summer Clusterpuck with two performances each by Vince Herman & Dre Emmitt, Larry and Jenny Keel, Jon Stickley Trio, Grandpa’s Couch Medicine, Albert Simpson.

May was also a monumental month with the grand opening of Daily’s Place, the new amphitheater in downtown Jax. Tedeschi Trucks Band and Dave Matthews kicked off opening weekend leading into June performances by Tears for Fears, Third Eye Blind, Rise Against with The Deftones, Diana Ross and more. Daily’s Place has announced huge acts for the upcoming 2017 months – click HERE for list.

Opening weekend of Daily’s Place was a non-stop calendar of other Memorial Day weekend concerts downtown as well. Jacksonville Jazz Fest and Jax Jazz Fest After Dark kept the street stages and local bars/venues packed. On the EDM scene, Wilson Brothers and Pass the Good Ent. threw a sold-out party with Space Jesus and MZG at Myth. (Listen to MZG’s “Spacy Mayo” mix on Soundcloud.) The Bass-Memorial Weekend continued with Marvel Years, Daily Bread, Cat Party, Ebro, The Widdler, Ployd, Exit9, The Galactic Effect and more at Jack Rabbits.
