Suwannee Hulaween 2016 Silent Disco Preview

Suwannee Hulaween is fast approaching our horizons and as most have experienced thanks to the Silent Disco, the music never stops. This year they have added an additional 500 headphones, so don’t worry about having to wait around amped up and ready to continue your party only to stand in line. With nearly 20 artists on the Silent Disco lineup it can be a bit overwhelming when deciding on Channel 1 or 2. Listed below, we’ve come up with a comprehensive list of the artists to help familiarize yourself and not miss a set.

Marvel Years

Cory Wythe, A.K.A Marvel Years has been making a name for himself in the glitch-hop, electro-soul scene that’s become so widely loved. By blending electronic beats and shredding soulful guitar he’s created a unique hybrid of EDM combining glitch, retro-funk, classic rock, soul, jazz and hip-hop. Recently he played the likes of Shambhala Music Festival and Red Rocks this summer, so Marvel Years is surely to bring the heat to Hulaween’s Silent Disco. Tune into his mix from Shambhala below. Closing out the Silent Disco on Saturday at 4:00 – 5:00 am is when you can catch him.

Artifakts

Artifakts is the musical undertaking of Wisconsin native Garret Meyer that blurs the line between electronic, hip hop and soul. Garret is surely to get most anyone getting down to his beats and just recently played Red Rocks with Griz and Sunsquabi. Check out his newest single, “Stellar”, below. 3:00 – 4:00 am on Saturday is when to show up for this set.

Prophet Massive

Prophet Massive is Jason Haan’s (String Cheese Incident, EOTO) DJ alter-ego. It’s strange, dark, tribal, and full of dub. Jason Haan is a man of many talents and this brain child is one of them, so be sure not to miss this set. 2:00 – 3:00 in the am Friday night is when you can catch this project.

Vlad the Inhaler

Vlad the Inhaler is the curator and mastermind behind all of Spirit of the Suwannee’s Silent Discos, consistently bringing the heat with a set that can go anywhere from downtempo to dubstep and everything in-between. If there’s anyone who knows how to keep a silent disco vibin’ it’s Vlad. He plays 3:00 – 4:00 Friday night.

Lusid

The psychedelic wizard who calls himself Lusid fills your brain with cosmic mysteries and tales of mind altering experiences. Lose your ego and dissolve into the sound of the Lusid experience as Dean McDonnell lets loose on guitar, bass, vocals, vinyl scratching, and didgeridoo. It will surely bring you to a new love of psychedelic funk and dubstep you knew you always had. 2:00 – 3:00 is when you can catch him Saturday night.

Lady Miaou

Lady Miaou was raised in the south and has since relocated to NYC. She’s best known in the cities’ fashion and underground scene for pulling people on the dance floor with her alluring sounds of downtempo house vibes, tech-house, and more. Lady Miaou’s 2015 Hulaween set can be heard below. She plays 3:00 – 4:00 Saturday.

Austen van der Bleek

Austen van der Bleek out of Tampa, FL isn not a newbie to the Florida DJ scene. He’s the founder of Open House Conspiracy, and Turn the Tables On. Your ears are most likely to be graced with the likes of deep house, nu-disco, tech-house, and them some when you choose his channel from 2:00 – 3:00 Friday.

LAVA

Lava, out of Jacksonville, FL, is made up of Leo Kulishevskiy, Kyle Piety, and Jeremy Nix all of whom are fire signs. Their experimental music is played at 432 hZ which is considered the sound of the Earth and will surely resonate well within one’s self. Check out their first full length demo to get their ethereal feel. Lava plays 3:00 – 4:00 am Friday.

Ployd

Aireon Grimes, A.K.A. Ployd, is a veteran producer out of Atlanta, GA and has been making music for over a decade. Without a doubt he has played a large influential part in the Southeastern scene, helping to start Atlanta’s first two Dubstep collectives; Atlanta Dubstep and Wobble House. Currently Independent, Ployd bounces from city to city in the Southeast beating up dance floors with his versatile and tasteful DJ sets consisting of Drum and Bass, dubstep, electronica, and then some. Ployd plays on Thursday night, Channel 1, from 3:00 – 4:00 am.

Aurakull

Aurakull is a female DJ and Vocalist out of Jacksonville, FL, and has been throwing it down for the past couple years, opening up for top-tier DJ’s coming through town. Her music is most definitely a beat of liquid gold to dance with as well as drop your booty on the floor. Check out her Bassnectar remix below. Catch her 3:00 – 4:00 Friday.

Booty Boo

Meg Moon, A.K.A. Booty Boo, is that newest ish out of Jacksonville, FL, and she surely knows how to pull your heartstrings as well as get your booty bouncin’. She’s quite versitile and can go anywhere from mixing a nostalgic song that gets you groovin to sensual downtempo beats and so much more. Look out for Booty Boo on Thursday night at 1:00 – 2:00 am on Channel 2.

Wyllys

Wyllys has been spinning since the age of 15 years old and has gained a knowledge of music that is prevalent in his sets. Though he may spin nu disco, house, drum and bass, and all the in-betweens, he is deeply rooted in funk and soul. He plays 3:00 – 4:00 am Friday.

Willie Evans Jr

Willie Evans Jr makes some dirty dirty beats and the sickest freestyles. So if you’re looking to switch it up, check him out. Catch his beats from 2:00 – 3:00 on Saturday night.

Digital Skyline

Digital Skyline is made up of Paul Joseph and Alan Beatty from Jacksonville, FL who play a mix of EDM, House, and Dubstep. They play on Thursday night at 1:00 – 2:00 am on Channel 1.

Rocks n’ Blunts

Rocks n’ Blunts is composed of Jacob Smith and Wali Sadeq out of Jacksonville, FL who play House, Techno, and Dubstep. The duo plays from 4:00 – 5:00 on Saturday.
