As I scrolled through the Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival lineup looking for artists to interview, I came across Jon Simon whom I had never heard of before. I read the brief description that accompanied his photo and thought to myself, “a jazz pianist that has performed at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in front of Presidents and Ambassadors? On Okeechobee’s lineup?!” I reached out to try and lineup an interview and, to my surprise, Jon was on board with the idea. I was amazed at Jon’s lifetime of accomplishments, but was shocked to find out that he is one of the primary investors for the event. This revelation added a very unique twist the interview that touched on everything from the team’s preparation for the event, Jon’s influences throughout his career and what we can expect from Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival.
