The Melody Trucks Band [Artist Profile]

After touring with Butch Trucks and the Freight Train, Melody Trucks immersed herself in the increasingly rich and diverse music scene in Jacksonville, Florida. The Melody Trucks Band came together in early 2017 as she encountered each member within this extended musical family. Their individual styles and influences run the entire span of every music genre: rock, blues, jazz, funk, classical, country, thrash metal, and even world music. This has culminated in fresh and unique interpretations of iconic songs from the genre of Melody’s extended family.

WestBrook
Music: It’s not what I do, it’s who I am

Raised in the Tampa Bay area of Florida, WestBrook was exposed early on to much of the music that now shapes his style. He was introduced to the guitar by his father at 13 and quickly discovered that it was going to be a major part of the rest of his life. WestBrook developed his chops by frequenting open jams around town and sitting in with the best that the area had to offer. WestBrook credits Johnny Winter and Eric Clapton as some of his earliest influences and says that the great Albert Collins is the inspiration for his now well known affection for the Telecaster. WestBrook became a regular in the Tampa Bay area music scene and quickly developed a local following and a reputation as a young gun on the rise. In his early 20’s he discovered the lap steel guitar and drew inspiration for it from the likes of Damon Fowler, Robert Randolph and Ben Harper. West’s chops on the Lap and Telecaster enabled him to begin a successful career as a sideman in Tampa Bay Area bans, Will Erickson Band and Amanda Drake and the Barn Burners as well as his own projects, Root Swamp Funk and Electric Mud.

Wanting to expand his career possibilities, West moved to Jacksonville Florida in 2010 to test his skills in the towns legendary music scene. With other Jacksonville standout musicians, West formed the Ivey West Band which quickly became a must see act in many of the best Florida and Georgia venues and festival circuits. While with IWB, West developed his now distinctive look and soulful singing style. The band released two independent CD’s which featured many of his original compositions. West left IWB to join Shaun Taunton and Shane Platten in forming the Jacksonville super band, Ginger Beard Man where he takes the lead vocal and guitar responsibilities. West’s virtuosity on the lap steel and square neck resonator guitars has garnered him successful sideman gigs with The Firewater Tent Revival and the newly formed Melody Trucks Band.

WestBrook is a talented singer song writer with many of his songs becoming crowd favorites with Ginger Beard Man as well as his many solo appearances around North Florida and South Georgia.

Brady Clampitt
Brady Clampitt is a vocalist/guitarist and Berklee College of Music Alumni from Jacksonville, Florida. At 32, he is now as ever a versatile live performer singing and playing guitar, keyboards, and lap steel. The live band shows are full of energetic rock and roll, blues, funk, and soul while being subject to a hard left turn to honest ballads and uplifting gospel.

Brady has become comfortable playing the national level shows and opening up for such artists as Josh Turner, Blackberry Smoke, and Brantley Gilbert. However, he will never miss the chance and could not be more proud than to rub elbows in his local hometown scene with the likes of JJ Grey and Tedeschi Trucks Band.

His original music provides the foundation for his performances and yet touches and embraces: roots, Motown, oldies, and country music genres. Brady’s live performances are anything but routine and shouldn’t be secluded to one genre, but more so a culmination of intrinsically composed elements of many.

Isaac Corbitt
Harmonica icon Isaac Corbitt is a phenomenon whose God-given talent is unmistakable. He is recognized as one of the best harmonica players in the world.

At age 17, he was given a $5 harmonica from his dad, and the rest is history. Within a few short weeks, he had taught himself to play – his gift was obvious from the start.

He is currently focusing on solo endeavors, but also lends his talents to The Corbitt Brothers Band, The Corbitt Clampitt Experience, and now The Melody Trucks Band.
