Take a magic mushroom trip with Heartland Americana-Rock outfit The Artisanals and head over to Billboard to watch the exclusive music video premiere of “Drag”. Heaping with organized chaos and crazy fun, “Drag” is among the singles that will make up the Charleston, SC band’s debut self-titled album, set for a September 21, 2018 release on AWAL. Learn more about The Artisanals from frontman Johnny Delaware, including a behind-the-scenes take on the making of their psilocybin-induced music video release of “Drag”, here.
Produced by The Artisanals with Wolfgang Zimmerman, the forthcoming LP is the first ever record to come out of the Magic Barn – an Iowa studio-converted-barn that features the Neve console and gear from New York City’s now defunct Magic Shop Studio which recorded David Bowie’s last two albums, Arcade Fire’s The Suburbs, and can be seen on Dave Grohl’s “Sonic Highways”. It is no surprise then that The Artisanals decided to film the video for “Drag” just outside of Durham, NC at an artist’s hand-built log cabin “on a property that comes across as an apocalyptic hippie commune,” Delaware tells Billboard. Equipped with their ‘medicine’ of choice, the quartet let go of all creative expectations, allowing the story to tell itself. Packed with fireworks, fog, and a good ol’ dose of rock n roll, “Drag” is an indulgent viewing experience.
The Artisanals is currently available for preorder on Pledge Music, and will be released on all major streaming platforms on Friday, September 21st. Physical copies, including vinyl of the album, will be available for sale at all live shows.
In celebration of the band’s debut LP release, The Artisanals will embark on a robust album release tour hitting venues up and down the East Coast. A listing of just announced tour dates starting on September 19th in Florida are below with more fall dates to be announced soon.
