This is the second time I attend an event at The Awarehouse. For those of you who don’t know this place, it’s a great venue that includes an art gallery and a stage for bands and DJ’s to play on. Sounds great doesn’t it? Well it would be but it seems like the people who own and manage the place are completely out of their minds. The local band Organicarma is the owner of The Awarehouse and every time they do an event there they take the stage and perform, if you can call what they do a performance. Last night’s festival was a mess and I will even go as far as saying that I think this place will not last much longer, same with the band. I was there for about 3 hours and it was painful. The place looked like a rave in 1992 with visuals projecting on the walls that looked like the old school fractal screen savers that were a part of the Windows 98 OS (let’s move on people, it’s 2010!!!). The Dj’s that played had no clue what they were doing (which is funny since nowadays with technologies such as Traktor DJ and Serato Scratch, everyone can at least beat match two records, not everyone can be a DJ though). I went there to see Prefuse73 but the music and the vibe was so horrible I left before they took stage. The last thing I saw before leaving was Organicarma play. The only way I can describe what I saw and heard is a band that has 3 deaf members, who are also blind and can’t speak, have no sense of rythm, do not not what a melody is and love having a crowd of people stare at them with a face that reads WHAT THE F#$@ IS GOING ON HERE!!!. I have never experienced anything like this. They simply ridiculed themselves. A group of toddlers would’ve most definitely done a better job than them on stage. I hope last night was a reality check for the band and the rest of the people involved with that place. Organicarma: Quit what you’re doing, stop making a fool out of yourselves, seriously! It doesn’t look good for the local scene either
