Since their creation in 2013, they have shared the stage with artists such as STS9, Big Gigantic, The Disco Biscuits, ZOOGMA, Manic Focus, The Floozies, and more. Read the interview and listen to some of their latest work below:

This interview is for your show at SweetWater 420 Fest. Can you tell us what you have planned for the set?
Kyle: We love playing at home in Atlanta, and 420 Fest is one of those festivals that’s just so much fun to play. You’re right smack, dab in the middle of Centennial Park.
Charlie: It’s always good to play at home. I’ve never been to this festival and really looking forward to playing and checking it out.
Kyle: We’re just going to do our thing. There is lot of new music we’ve been working on, some of which may get played on Saturday. We’re just going to bring the energy.

What are you promoting at the moment?
Charlie: We’re set to release our new EP, “Behind The Light”, on April 22nd through our record label 1320records. It will be on Spotify, ITunes, SoundCloud, and other outlets.
Kyle: I’m really excited about the new record, because this is the first Modern Measure record with acoustic drums.

How did the group form?
Charlie: We’ve known know each other for a few years now from the music scene in the southeast.
Kyle: Since 2009, actually. We have always shared a common vision in music.
Charlie: Yea, We decided it was time to start playing together and putting some of these ideas in motion.
Kyle: It’s great. We haven’t looked back since. We’re having so much fun doing what we do. The music and writing is consistently flowing which is an amazing thing.

What were you doing before Modern Measure?
Kyle: I was playing drums in a project called Up Until Now, as well as producing my own music.
Charlie: I’ve always diddled in music production but never really put anything out there. I was busy filming and editing video content for a few bands. One of which was Up Until Now, actually.

As a fairly new band, how have you been able to accomplish so much since Modern Measure was created in 2013?
Kyle: I think this is my favorite question yet. It’s been an insane ride to this point, and we’re extremely grateful for all of the opportunities that have presented themselves. It’s a part of staying true to the music, constantly networking, and already having a built network. We have a lot of friends in the industry and have been in and around the electronic music world since 2005.
Charlie: Yeah. We just want to do something different, while staying true to ourselves. Its all about the love of music and hard work.

What have been some of your biggest moments so far?
Kyle: Opening for STS9 at the Fillmore in Denver, CO was incredible. Just to be in there with all of our friends and family was an experience we will never forget.
Charlie: Euphoria Music Festival in Austin, TX is a close second. It just sounded incredible on that stage. We had our friend Justin Hasting of Zoogma sit in with us mid set and that’s always a pleasure.
Kyle: “The energy of the crowd was amazing. We feed off of the crowd in a big way when we perform live.

We first saw your group perform at Suwannee Hulaween last year and it was a memorable show. How would you describe that particular experience?
Charlie: That show is really memorable for us. I love those festival grounds. This was my first Hulaween although I’ve attended many other festivals there.
Kyle: Hulaween was an amazing festival. I’ve played at Suwannee before with another act but not the amphitheater until this show. It is really an impeccable place to play music. The amphitheater sounds amazing and our music felt at home.

What other festivals have you appeared at lately?
Kyle: We just finished a main stage performance at Euphoria Music Festival in Austin, TX, and that was awesome.
Charlie: Yeah. I really enjoyed Euphoria. Of course we have 420 Fest coming up this weekend, and Summer Camp Music Festival in Chillicothe, IL on Memorial Day weekend.
Kyle: Also, Sonic Bloom in Rye, CO, Backwoods Music Festival in Oklahoma, as well as a few others that we haven’t announced just yet. All I can say is we’re really excited.
