[Review] Mr. Lif and Akrobatik (The Perceptionists) – “Grab Hold”

The Perceptionists

Mr. Lif and Akrobatik, collectively known as The Perceptionists, give us a glimpse of their long-awaited upcoming album, Resolution. “Grab Hold” is presented as a b-side bonus and is produced by Jacksonville’s own Paten Locke for Asha’s Groove.

“Grab Hold” is a thoughtful reminder that the universe is always working in our favor if we release control and maintain a positive state of mind during life’s storms. Every negative can be turned into a positive with a strong mentality. The jazz-influenced instrumental stays true to Paten Locke’s fundamental sound as he seamlessly blends classic hip hop percussion and samples into an audio work of art.

Locke has a highly respected production track record which you can familiarize yourself with HERE. I’m personally a fan of Paten’s Full Plate project with fellow Jacksonville rhymer Dillon Maurer, especially their 2016 LP “Food Chain.”

The Perceptionists also premiered the official video for the album’s lead single “Hose Down.” In comparison, “Grab Hold” will satisfy the ear of traditional hip-hop listener while “Hose Down” fits a formula more suited for a radio single.

Resolution is due out July 28th, 2017. Pre-order the album on iTunes HERE and watch “Hose Down” below:
