DJ Magic Mike hit us with some heavy lighting artillery for this year’s Labor Day Bash at House of Blues Orlando. It’s been far too long since I’ve seen Mike play and I had no idea his laser arsenal had grown so extensively. It was wild to say the least.
The hour spent on the dance floor making friends and watching the break dancers would have been a good enough time on its own. I was so entertained I hadn’t even noticed it was showtime when the house lights signaled Mike’s arrival.
The two-minute intro created a massive build up of suspense as the legendary DJ rocked us with his debut which featured bass, bass and more bass. The set continued with jaw-dropping light flashes everywhere, piercing lasers, confetti bombs and uptempo techno. It was like a South Beach nightclub and a ride at Disney had collided. I was catching Miami-type vibes in House of Blues. Good times.
Speaking of House of Blues Orlando, this venue has respectably impressive sound and plenty of room to roam around. This was our second visit to H.O.B. in a month, the first being Rabbit in the Moon, and both times have been exceptional.
