Greenhouse Lounge, movin’ on up!

Jacksonville’s finest. These guys have sounded better and better each time I’ve seen ’em, and I don’t think that momentum will be decreasing anytime soon- especially with their constant performances in Jacksonville, and various stops throughout the Southeast over the past year or so (including a fantastic recent SE tour with The Malah).

From their site….

Greenhouse Lounge is adept at merging rumbling dub basslines with pumping electronica beats, breakbeat dynamics juxtaposed with lyrical steel pan, bright emotional melodies met with smart and staggering sample manipulation, and some subtle guitar axe-wizardry. Their music can be described as euphoric; a hypnotic groove-based dub sound; tightly woven sonic soundscapes that are rich in melody and texture. Born of the new dawn of live electronica music that almost surrealistically fuses styles island, jam, jazz, funk, breakbeats, as well as live dub step recently. Indeed a new frontier.

The boys tore down the Art Walk once again. Amazing breakdowns. The whole sidewalk was shifting around, there were b-boys, and some freestyle nannies. But the JAM WAS STRONG. And like a piece of toast, I was covered in it. GHL for the win!
