On July 3rd, Organic Vision Presents hosted The Heavy Pets at 1904 Music Hall as part of their multi-city stops on the Florida circuit. Support was provided by Custard Pie and DJ Matthew Connor. 1904 Music Hall also hosts one of Jacksonville’s favorite free monthly parties, DUVAL is For Lovers: Emo, Pop Punk, Throwback, which delivers the perfect mix of DJ, live vocals, and digital drums. The night, which takes place the first Thursday of every month, plays early 2000’s Emo & Pop Punk and encourages fans to post their song requests leading up to the event.

The Fritz – July 28, 2018 at 1904 Music Hall

The Fritz appropriately closed out their summer tour in Jacksonville, the city that helped put them on the map. Ajeva offered opening support, ensuring the crowd was primed and ready. The truth is, no one could have been prepared for what The Fritz had in store for us. The first set was composed of all originals, taking us on a journey through the band’s musical career. The second set, titled “The King of Pop Meets The Purple One,” was The Fritz’s take on our favorite hits by Michael Jackson and Prince. Every attendee of the music hall that evening left drenched in sweat, with a huge smile plastered on their face.

After Stick Figure’s tour dog, Cocoa, stole the crowd’s hearts, Slightly Stoopid took the stage, collectively captivating the entire audience. There is so much positivity at a show like this that, one cannot walk away without a fresh perspective on life and a full heart.

With album launch parties in their horizon, the Gorgon City duo of Kye Gibbon and Matt Robson-Scott seemed especially excited about sharing some of their newest tracks with the Orlando crowd. Bass, vocals, and bouncy party vibes ensued and the crowd responded in kind. Celine Orlando proved the perfect venue for this act as the lights and sound system were both stellar and the overall atmosphere. With a steady stream of national and international acts slated for Celine Orlando’s future, it seems that this is the place to be for Central Florida nightlife.

DJ Craze – July 26, 2018 at Celine Orlando

DJ Craze blessed the rooftop party for Celine Orlando on June 26th. The Slow Roast label boss and 3-time DMC champ wasted no time letting everyone in, or rather on, the building know why he’s considered one of the best ever. With intricate wordplay and rhythmic dexterity, the Miami native ran through a bevy of different songs and styles, all the while keeping the crowd guessing on his next move. The open-air rooftop feel at Celine Orlando only added to the crowd’s enthusiasm. The rooftop feels like a packed backyard jam with your favorite music, cold drinks, and vibing, smiling faces everywhere. Craze took full advantage of the night and his debut to Celine Orlando to the delight of everyone in attendance.

The Heavy Pets (2-Night Run) – July 19 & 20, 2018 at Dunedin Brewery

Relix magazine recently described these Florida natives as “a living, breathing force of nature.” And boy have they lived up to this title! On July 19th and 20th, The Heavy Pets returned to Dunedin Brewery, after an extensive tour promoting their latest full-length album, Strawberry Mansion. Fans, dubbed “The Zoo Keepers,” were treated to the Pets’ extensive musical library, leaving everyone wondering who was more excited they were home…the band or the fans? If you missed them on their tour through the United States, you’ll have to wait until September to catch them again, as they take a well-deserved break for some R & R. No worries though, Dunedin Brewery has a stacked calendar, sure to satisfy everyone’s musical palate.

Displace – July 28, 2018 at Dunedin Brewery

Tampa natives Displace continue to build their fan base everywhere they go. After over a month touring across the Northeast, a hometown crowd gathered at Dunedin Brewery, eager to welcome the boys home. The funk fusion quartet toured this summer to promote “Lovely,” the first single off their third studio album. The next evening, fans returned to the brewery for a special treat – Chris Sgammato (of Displace) showcased the work of his music students. This family-friendly event was a great way to support the region’s up-and-coming stars.

Janelle Monáe – July 26, 2018 at Jannus Live

Janelle Monáe played to a myriad of fans at Jannus Live on July 26th. Following a sultry performance by St. Beauty, the Q.U.E.E.N. delivered a passionate and theatrical performance that made it all too clear why many consider Dirty Computer to be the top album of 2018, thus far. Monáe played past hits “Electric Lady,” “Cold War,” and “Tightrope,” as well as new cuts, “Screwed,” “Pynk,” and “Make Me Feel.” There was a overriding theme throughout the evening – embrace your passions, take care of yourself, and accept one another. Once again, music unifies.

DJ Sasha  – July 14, 2018 at Club Space Miami

The world famous DJ Sasha made a mid-summer dream come true in Miami on July 14th. Club Space was truly the place for this legendary DJ to touch down. With support from Tampa’s very own DJ Three, this night was set to be a scorcher and the jocks did not disappoint. Coming off of an international touring schedule, Sasha must have felt a little vacation vibe as he slid into sunny MIA.

As a perpetually in-demand DJ, the constant traveling can be a demand, but this consulate professional showed no signs of fatigue or lack of enthusiasm for the south Florida crowd. The night was set off by resident DJ Bakke who had the crowd simmering by the end of his set. Three seemed equally pumped to be playing this night and delivered a slinky, yet pumping set with trademark Three transitions and blends.

Then came the man of the hour. Just as captivating as ever, Sasha’s set was a musical journey, ebbing and flowing and giving the faithful exactly what they came for. Space really knows how to make these nights special, as well, with the bar and staff looking especially beautiful this evening. And Space has a number of big nights on the calendar for the remainder of the August. Check them out here for more details.

Kedr Livanskiy – July 21, 2018 at Floyd Miami

Moscow’s electronic producer and singer Kedr Livanskiy performed at Floyd Miami on July 21st. Known her whimsical vocals, Livanskiy’s music is reminiscent of the old rave days in London; to a more effortless time. The event was hosted by Space Tapes, who also threw the Suicideyear & Clara La San show on July 12th.

Project Pat – July 22, 2018 at Cash Only Bar

Project Pat brought his Cheese N Dope tour to Cash Only Bar in Ft. Lauderdale on July 22nd and the brie practically spread itself! With over two decades of music under his belt, Pat and crew came strong for the Cash Bar crowd. Cash Only Bar seems to keep a steady amount of national and international acts hitting their stage.

Project Pat seemed keen on leaving the word that he was one of the highlights of the summer. Running through his hits, he made sure to give a taste of the classic songs which have made him a household name for down south rap and hip hop, overall. The Three 6 Mafia affiliate is currently on his Cheese and Dope tour across the US. Make sure to catch him when he hits your town.

AC Slater – July 27, 2018 at Club Space

Club Space was given the Night Bass treatment on July 27th when AC Slater brought his bass heavy house selections to Miami. This label and DJ showcase of the same name has been instrumental in pushing the bass house movement for quite some time and AC Slater, the self-proclaimed “Night Bass Champion” was on fire for this one.

Maybe it’s the warm, tropical vibes or maybe its the beautiful people, but parties in Miami always seem to pop off a little more. AC Slater played right into this energy and was quickly testing the basins in the room with full force. Sweat and wobbles were in plentiful supply. DJs Dombresky, Taiki Nulight, and Sinden were also on the bill and crushed their sets, all around. Amazing night. Amazing DJs. Amazing Space!
